Dundas House is located at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the Registered Office of the Royal Bank of Scotland. It is protected as a category A listed building. Designed by Sir William Chambers. Acquired by Royal Bank of Scotland 1821 and is their Registered Headquarters. The RBS being established by Westminster Parliamentary Charter as the Bank of Scotland (1696)was considered too Jacobite. RBS was from its inception a British Bank with headquarters in Edinburgh. As a public limited company the liabilities were the responsibility of the shareholders. At no time until 2008/9 was it ever a State Bank.
