CASTLEMAINE was added 1994-1995 which controls the receivers GT8 & GT9, known as GRAPNEL , and which forms the European Ground Relay link for the Space Based Infra Red System (SBIRS) of satellites.

On 25 July 2007, the UK Secretary of State for Defence announced that HM Government had agreed to a US request to use the DSP/SBIRS satellite communications facilities at RAF Menwith Hill to route data to the US missile defence system. This is in addition to its use in the existing US-UK missile warning mission.
