Badakhshan Province. On the Kokcha River, adjacent to Faizbad airport, five kilometers west of the town.

Dates: Kushano-Sasanian period, 4th-5th century AD (stylistic evidence);
Early Islamic, 10th-13th century (ceramic evidence);
Timurid, 15th-16th century (ceramic evidence).

The probable remains of ancient Faizãbad, consisting of an extensive low lying site with traces of mud and baked brick structures covering an area of 1.5 square kilometers. This site was the probable find-spot of two Sassanian silver plates in the early 19th century [Princep, 1838; Cunningham, 1841].
