The site was in use as an air force base since its building in the aftermath of World War two until 2006. Rumour has it that it harboured nuclear rockets to be used as preventive and defensive threat against the Soviet block. No need to remind that this similarly meant that it had to be viewed as a privileged first-strike target from the opposed side of the cold war confrontation!

The very exhistance of these military premises was kept as low-profile as possible, and scarce notice, if any at all, had been given about it.
Yet, during this half-century, it brought money in the form of military compensatons for the neighbouring properties.

It is currently being proposed (2012 a.d.) for re-structuring and re-qualification as a public park and infancy playground, particularly suited for its being close to an area deemed to the restoration of its pristine condition of a marsh and wet area.
