Bay formed downstream by the Sturgeon River and a popular fishing today and in the past. In history, the nation of the Nipissings used the Minnehaha Bay as an access point to Lake Temagami and to what has become many provincial parks of Northern Ontario.

During Modern History, the Minnehaha Bay was used by paper and pulp mills of Sturgeon Falls to collect logs coming from upstream lumberyard like from Field and River Valley. Under the terms of law, a dock as been built by the Government of Ontario to accommodate the pulp and paper mill and, by extension, the community. This is the reason why Sturgeon Falls inhabitants colloquially call the latter ''Government Dock''.

Now, Minnehaha Bay and the dock have become a important panoramic site and tourist attraction for Sturgeon Falls. Several projects are planned for the enhancement of the site: illumination of various sites and the construction of a marina and a pedestrian bridge.

Henceforth, Minnehaha Bay has become the site from which Sturgeon Falls inhabitants can enjoy fireworks for special holidays.
