This monument commemorates the great German poet and philosopher Friedrich Schiller, who along with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was one of the leading figures of the Weimar Classicism movement. This monument was unveiled on May 9th, 1905 to mark the 100th aniversary of Schiller's death by the Breslau Schiller Society. The monument was designed by Felix Henry, while the bust was created by Ludwig Menzl and based of of a 19th-century work by Johann Heinrich Dannecker. It featured a marble bust atop a pedestal with a curved railing perched on top of a granite base. It was destroyed during the Battle of Breslau in 1945, but was rebuilt in the 1990s by the German-Polish Society for Cultural Cooperation. The re-unveiling of the monument took place on 9 may 1995. The replica of the bust was made by a Greek professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Christos Mandzios. On the base of the monument is carved a famous line from the ode to joy, "Alle Menschen werden Brüder" - "All men are brothers".
