Bar located on the right side of the entrance staircase to Murguia Jewelry Store ("Joyeria Murguia") at Avenida Diagonal 342 (officially Avenida Mariscal Oscar R Benavides 342). Canadian Cafe-Bar is "under" Murguia's inset porch, and one must literally step down a few steps from the sidewalk in order to enter the doorway - which is well-protected by one or more security people during business hours.

There are several bars in Miraflores with Anglo-Saxon or Irish sounding names including "The Old Pub", "The Corner Sports Bar and Grill", and "Murphy's". They are generally in the habit of employing very beautiful young women; however, the Canadian Cafe-Bar is not content with just employing the girls behind the bar - in fact, the actual bartenders are guys.

Here's how it works. You walk into the bar like you would walk into any other bar, and at first you probably don't even notice the actual bar tucked away on the right. Instead your attention focuses on a room in front of you with fairly comfortable seating and furnishings where lots of guys are socializing with lots of girls. Everything seems typical, but you do observe that the proportion of "knock-dead beautiful women" is unusually high (in fact it's 100%).

If this is already to good to be true it gets better. As you observe the action, a hot 18 year old coed in a stylish halter and designer shorts approaches YOU. To be fair, she admits that she works for the management, and asks if you would like to buy her a drink because she would love to talk with you.

This simple concept seems to be working a veritable fortune for the "Canadian Cafe-Bar". Guys, who for whatever the reason don't even want to try approaching girls the normal way just come here, where the girls are ordered by the management to approach every guy who walks in the door.

Now here's the bad news. If you're on vacation and you come to this bar, which is the easiest place in the world to meet outrageously beautiful young women, and you spend a whole night talking with a girl, and buying her drinks, she will never be attracted to you, no matter how good your rapport may seem. She will not meet you for another drink after work, and she will not give you her phone number. Why not? Surely some of these guys have the kind of great personality, self-confidence, and flair for romance that women genuinely find attractive. The reason is because they, and their management, don't want anyone to even remotely suggest they are whores AND also, because Peruvian women generally like to feel comfortable with a gentleman before taking matters further. They like a gentleman who has been introduced to them by a family member, or a close friend. Barring that possibility, they like to talk to a man several times, on different occasions, in order to "size him up" and feel like they really know him.

So what's the bottom line? If you are on vacation, and you come here, you have no chance with any of the girls who talk with you. They are nothing more than employees working for the bar who are tasked with talking to every male customer. You, the customer, leave at 3 AM with all the other losers, and realize - after your frustration abates - just what kind of a small fortune in over-priced drinks you have spent FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !!!

If you are on vacation this place represents a very poor value for your money. You are much better off hitting some of the nicer discotheques. Nearby, you can try Los Altos, Pub Latino, Cameo, Son de Cuba, and others in the "Calle de Las Pizza" district. There are also many other similar places in Miraflores and Barranco. The girls in the discos, generally, are just normal people looking to socialize (as opposed to being employees performing "enforced" socialization). The normal girls like to know a man well just like all the women in Peru BUT in the free-wheeling world of Miraflores' late-night clubs, you may be able to move much faster, provided the girl is genuinely attracted to you - and she may be attracted to you far easier than you'd think.

So that's the story for vacationers. What about residents? Here it certainly gets more complicated. It is true that the girls - knock-dead beautiful girls from 18 to 24 (dressed to kill) - are nothing more than employees paid to talk with you. That's a fact. However, having said that, one must understand that people are still people. My understanding from an upper-middle class Lima resident, an older guy (and frankly, not good-looking at all) is that after three or four separate trips to the Canadian Cafe-Bar spaced out over a month or so, it is sufficient exposure so that a particular girl that is being targetted can attain that "feeling of comfort" that women from Peru like to have. After he senses that the girl is comfortable this guy just straight out invites her up to his place. I have seen this old guy walk into the lobby at 4 AM and 5 AM with 18-year olds, 20-year olds, sometimes with TWO girls. And like I said, they are not prostitutes and he is not giving them any money. This sort of thing just happens because of the way people are in Lima.

So you can "get over" at the Canadian Cafe-Bar provided you are a resident, with patience, and with some bucks to throw around. If memory serves me correctly drinks run about $13.00 and you are going to be buying a lot of drinks. You will definitely need some bucks. Furthermore, when the girls finally feel comfortable, and are attracted they may be attracted for THE WRONG REASON. If you could by tons of drinks at $13.00 a pop, the attraction may be nothing more than your money. Still you can't argue with the fact that an ugly 50+ year old guy was nailing hot girls in their teens and early 20's, and paying them nothing. If you're a resident, and you truly have the ability to afford it, the Canadian Cafe-Bar is your call.

If you are looking for a serious relationship, rather than "getting over" and you are either willing to make many multiple trips to Peru, or better yet live here, there is a better approach that does not normally work in North America. Just register with the most popular dating service websites in Lima. It takes time to do it right. You want to take snapshots in clothing that makes you look good, and a close-up of your face - after a trip to a hairstylist who can make you look your best. Then describe yourself (in Spanish of course) so as to "market" yourself as best you can. But never lie. After a week or two the websites will publish you fully, and women (some of them good) will respond. Try "amistarium.com" and "latinlovesearch.com". Now if you don't speak fairly good Spanish, you have a problem. Perhaps your only viable alternative is "A Foreign Affair". Register in North America (or Europe) for about $900.00 or so. If you live here in Lima, use the North American address that you use on your credit card. If you no longer have a North American card, you are stuck - but if you are living in Peru you should be ashamed of yourself if you cannot speak good Spanish, and thus be able to take advantage of the first two websites which cost ZERO. Anyway, back to "A Foreign Affair" - register for "personal tour". Use the website restricting your geographic search to Lima Peru only - girls 18 to 30 years of age. Many snapshots will appear. Select the 30 most beautiful girls - believe me, you're going to find 30 knock-outs - then send the list and your $900 to "A Foreign Affair". When the plane lands a Peruvian guy will be waiting in the parking lot with a little sign, with your name on it. He will chauffeur you to your hotel. A conceivable good match might be "La Casa de Los Sanchez" straight across from the Lima Office of "A Foreign Affair" with reasonable rates. Please don't go for a five-star hotel costing $200 per night. Hotels with rates at $100 per night are more than adequate.

You want to spend 3 weeks on your vacation. The first week you will probably meet about 20 of the 30 girls you selected. About ten will be sick, or be very busy with work, or are not interested, or something. At the end of the week you SHOULD have met at least 2 or 3 girls that are attracted to you (the girls have faith in the agency, so you don't need extra time for developing that "feeling of comfort"). As for conversation, they have excellent translators who accompany you to the coffee-shop during initial interviews. Once you start dating, be ready to send her to English-school quickly - or you get to Spanish school quickly. Communications is going to be very important.

The next two weeks are for dating the girls who were attracted to you. Believe me, you will be more than happy. What you do after that is up to you. It's either a lot of trips, or relocation - otherwise you are going to lose the girl(s).

In short, you really can find the girl of your dreams here in Lima - and you do not need the Canadian Cafe-Bar, unless you are a resident with patience, and willing to pay a heavy surcharge in order to get over.
