Long Before the 1972 constitution, Sabangan was regarded as a village/District. But after the proclamation of marshal law a new constitution arose. The Local Government unit Barangay was restored. The well known huge barrio of Bonuan was divided into three barangays. Barangay Bonuan Gueset absorbed Sabangan and made it one of its sitios. After several years, Sabangan the was divided into two zones, the eastern Sabangan and Sabangan. There are also plans in the past that the name of Sitio Sabangan wil be change into Sitio Siapno but the citizens did not agree to the plan. There are also plans in the past, that the said sitio willbe separated from barangay Bonuan Gueset but the plan was not decided until it was forgotten.
