Lake Comfort has become a very busy lake over the past 20 years. Once a decent lake for anglers to catch large pan fish, northern pike, and bass, the lake has seen more and more boaters using the lake for recreation purposes. The lake becomes extremely busy on warm summer days, with the 4th of July unsurprisingly often seeing the heaviest traffic. The only boat landing is at the very north of the lake, and the size of the landing has recently increased to allow parking for roughly 10 vehicles and trailers.

The Sunrise river flows through the lake, entering from the middle of the lake on the western side, and exits in the northwest corner. While other lakes in the Chisago and Lindstrom area have recently seen a dramatic drop in water level, Comfort stays roughly the same thanks to the Sunrise river.
