Built 1905 as lodging for the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition June 1-October 14 that year. The main entrance to the Exposition was directly across 26th Street from the hotel. With the close of the fair in 1905 it lost its desirability as a hotel because of its remote location and became a boarding house sometime between the close of the fair and 1925. It remained in that use, becoming increasingly derelict, until it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and was restored and converted into apartments in 2001. It is probably the only Exposition-related structure which remains in its original location.
