De history of Our Lady's College is closely linked to the presence of Jesuits in Antwerp. The founder of the order, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, would have being three times in Antwerp (1529-1531), but it lasts until 1562 when some Jesuits at the request of the Hispanic community came to Antwerp. They purchase in 1574 of the 'Aecken Huys', a late Gothic building where now Lessius College is established at a secondary school to accommodate. The college opened in March 1575 and has three high school classes. The student number is growing rapidly to 300.
