Notes: The flanking towers at the southeast and southwest corners of the church building were originally intended to be four stories in height, but were never completed. They remain two stories tall like the rest of the church's facade. The interior walls and ceiling of the church contain outstanding murals by artist Josef Steinhage, a German immigrant who gained his citizenship after fighting for the United States in World War II. This artwork is of such a quality that it was recognized within Catholic circles by being featured on the cover of the nationally-distributed National Catholic Register periodical.
