  • The first time I was where the mall is now, (ca'76) it was a single yellow & red 'woolens store' virtually alone on the countryside, near the intersection with the road toward Gulfoss at Myrvatn. It was filled from floor to roof with all manner of rich smelling, loose woven wool products and supplies. Clothing and crafts, much of it made on the surrounding farms, which the proprietress knew so well that when I described what I could not find after 20 minutes looking, she led us back thru the narrow, muffled, passages, and using a long stick, teased down from a ceiling shelf, just the hooded sweater I desired for my mother.
