During the Highland Clearances the crofters were evicted from the homes which were then burnt to the ground.They gathered in the Churchyard prior to being evicted to the coast to new lives in the new world.They scratched their final messages on the windows.There they stand a reminder of cruelty of the landlords of the 19th century
