Tunstall and McSween grave markers (Lincoln, New Mexico)

The approximate location of the grave markers for John Tunstall and Alexander McSween. Most historians believe that the actual grave sites are approximately 10-20 yards to the east (on private property) but the state placed the markers here, on state property.

Tunstall's marker is on the west and McSween's on the east.

Each is marked by a cross as well as a headstone.

It was the murder of Tunstall that started the infamous Lincoln County War, and the murder of McSween that ended it. Famous players in the war included Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett.
