MANILA -- Rockwell Land has acquired a majority stake in Alabang Town Center. In a statement, Rockwell Land chairman Nestor Padilla said that earlier this year, Madrigal family scion Francisco “Jun” M. Bayot asked them to consider redeveloping Alabang Town Center.
Prior to this, the Madrigal family and Ayala Land Inc had jointly controlled Alabang Commercial Center Corporation, the operator of Alabang Town Center. Last week, Ayala Land said it was selling its stake in the mall for P13.5 billion, to fund its "next generation of large-scale, high-growth leasing assets."
Rockwell is the operator of Power Plant Mall in Makati City. Alabang Town Center, meanwhile, has more than 500 retail and office tenants and is known as the premier suburban lifestyle center in the southern part of Metro Manila.
Padilla thanked Bayot and the Madrigal family for the opportunity to redevelop Alabang Town Center. "Our immediate focus is on ensuring a smooth transition and planning its redevelopment,” he said.
Rockwell Land is best known for Rockwell Center Makati, its flagship mixed-use development anchored by the Power Plant Mall, one of the country’s most established premium shopping and lifestyle destinations. The company has built a reputation for integrating experiential and lifestyle-driven concepts into its retail projects, supported by carefully curated tenant mixes.
The Alabang Town Center acquisition adds to Rockwell Land’s broader retail expansion push, as developers seek growth beyond Metro Manila’s traditional central business districts amid rising consumer spending in provincial and suburban markets.
