  • SASRALINGA IS A PLACE VISITED BY DEVOTES OF LORD SHIVA DURING FESTIVAL MAHASHIVRATRI.
  • "Sahasralinga" means thousand lingas in sanskrit and kannada. It is situated some 17 kms from Sirsi town. Here we can see beautiful Shivalingas being carved out from the rockbeds of river "Shalmala". Once believed to be thousand in numbers, in the course of time few have remained. We can also see a big and beautiful Nandi statue - Shiva's vahana at the side of the river. We remember during our childhood, this place was so secluded and clean, but with the present day's crowd, it has lost its cleanliness with plastic bags and bottles carelessly thrown. Hopefully people understand the importance and strive to maintain this place clean and peaceful.
  • Having the darshan of lord Shiva in thousand folds was very very pleasent. This was first time we have visited alongwith my parents, my elder brothers family and sister and her children and offcourse my wife and children. Initially I was thinking that it could be a temple with thousand shivalinga, but our driver informed that it was within the river-flow, and what a view , at the very first glance, everyone was amazed and were in blissed.
