Yongning Temple was located in Luoyang City and was established by Empress Dowager Hu at the First Year of Xiping Period (AD 516). The nine-floor stupa is the main building of this temple. As recorded by Temple Records of Luoyang, the tower was destroyed by fire in the third year of Yongxi (AD 534) and the fire raged for three months. We can imagine how large the scale of architecture was. The pagoda in Yongning Temple has golden bells at each corner, in a total of 130. The pagoda had four sides, all coated with gilded paint
