Built in 1966-67 to house construction of a Soviet rocket for a flight to the moon, (N-1).
In the mid 1970's, it was converted under the program "Energy-Buran".
After closing the program, the abandoned building was plundered by local residents.

The high bays 3-5 were destroyed during roof collapse in May 2002, but the low bays 1 and 2 left undamaged. Bay 1 is now in use for Soyuz launch vehicle assembly and final integration of Soyuz spacecraft with the launch vehicle. Bay 2 is used for 3 clean rooms of Starsem. The first mission, which rolled out from site 112 was "Progress M1-10" on June 6, 2003. Site 112 is under control of Samara Space Center.
