St.-Veit Kirche (lutheran) (Gärtringen)

Germany / Baden-Wurttemberg / Gartringen / Gärtringen
listed building / architectural heritage, Evangelical church

This church has a bell tower - reached by climbing loads of wooden steps - there is a story that the bell was hidden by a local couple in the second world war when the nazis came, and later emerged and was replaced. The bell tower was originally a defensive tower so there are narrow windows. There are wall paintings dating back to the fourteenth century or before I believe - traditional apostles and local herbs.
