This redoubt was one of the 32 fortifications belonging to the 95 Km. long outer defending girdle around Antwerp.
Build in 1911, its purpose was to defend the area between fortress Sint-Katelijne-Waver and redoubt Bosbeek.
It was armed with 2 75mm and 2 120mm cannons.
During WW I heavily shelled by artillery but the soldiers held out in the "battle of Dorpveld". The Germans had to storm it to conquer.
1931 a monument is placed to remember the heroic defense during the war.
1939 the redoubt is embedded in the KW-line.
1952 It is decommissioned and now private property.
