History:

The Barker House began circa 1872, originally as "Pine Cottage", the residence of the painter Theodore Pine. It was subsequently expanded several times, eventually growing to more than 100 rooms.

It became the "Barker House" in 1881, when it was purchased by Charles W. Barker.

Barker served a term as mayor of Manitou Springs, and was later a Colorado state congressman.

In 1904 the Barker House was purchased by Charles A. Pollen, who re-named it the "Navajo Hotel".
