German WW2 Atlantikwall Bunker, Festung IJmuiden, M.K.B. Heerenduin, Widerstandsnest 81
The battery is still in good shape and consists of a control tower and four gun positions. It was part of the atlantik wall and protected the entrance of the harbor and locks. When it was built, the shore was still very close, but due to changing of the piers the sea
withdrew and more new land emerged, so it appears as if this was a unsuccessful location, but during the war, this was still on the beach

  • the M178 fire command bunker was reopend after empting the groundlevel by members of the WN2000.nl orgnisation in nov-dec 2007. The two upperlevels are freely accessible. To visit the groundlevel please contact wn2000.nl
