Small hamlet lost in the woods. Few residents, most eccentric. There are great forest walks around here and some local businesses run from home including Lakshmi Tours, Angel Media and Forest Fact.

  • ....stay in after dark, there are tales of wild cats (maybe escaped from Longleat).
  • One of a few surviving Celtic place names in the area. Previously also spelled "Gaer Hill"
  • I cycled up here not so long ago - and thought that it was literally just the church on the hill. I recommend the woods around Gare Hill - I've heard a cuckoo, as well as seeing deer and buzzards.
  • Whilst cycling through Gare Hill today, I disturbed a wild cat that was in the verge. It looked about the size of a lynx.
  • I saw what looked like a lynx at Gare Hill about an hour ago!
