Chorabari Tal 4220 Mt. One of the two snouts of the Chorabari glacier terminates at the tarn, Chorabari Tal ,the source for the Mandakini River, a tributary of the Alaknanda river. It is situated on the mouth of Chorabari Bamak glacier.& lies on the foot of Kedarnath and Kirthi Stambh peak .It is also known as"Gandhi Sarovar"because in the year 1948, Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in the lake. The original name of the sarovar is Kanti Sarovar.

  • Wrongly shown as Chorabari Lake. This place is in fact a small beautiful meadow between Chorabari glacier and Companion glacier. I have been there many a times for plant collection in 1990s. Still remember a good population of Dactylorhiza hatagirea seen there.
