The property, which has been remodelled into a “water castle” in the 15th century, was first chronicled in 1443 and given its current form by the Pfanngauers. In 1596, ownership passed into the hands of the Knights of Gabelkhofen. Since 2001 Gabelhofen presents itself as a 4-star-hotel with conference amenities, an arts gallery and a gourmet-restaurant.
