Gerry Anderson allegedly had the idea for Thunderbirds while staying here in the 1950's. The island is littered with abandoned silos and has a large cave facing out onto the sea which Anderson reputedly based the idea for Thunderbird 2's launchpad on. There is also a large Pictish standing stone which bears a striking resemblance to Thunderbird 1. Traiseagh is ancient Gaelic for "Tracy", which is where the name "Tracy Island" originated from.
