A town of 13,934 people (2007), the seat of Żnin County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Situated between the Żnińskie Duże and Żnińskie Małe lakes, Żnin is the capital of the historic land of Pałuki and boasts many tourist attractions, including the narrow gauge railway that connects the town to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Wenecja and to the archeological site in Biskupin.
