You will be able to get necessary information to touch the nature of Oku-Nikko. Ministry of Environment opened this facility in 1994. Visitors will understand the nature of Oku-Nikko through the panel exhibition video and seasonal events.
You will find "Oku-Nikko Real Time Information" soon after you enter the building. It announces about weather, traffic, camping, mountain climbing and skiing. Also, you can get information of bloom on walking path and mountain trail.
In exhibition corner, you will be informed about wild birds, flowers, insects, animals, and trees. In addition to that, there is a small library, which arranges data of animals and plants. You will identify a bird or a plant that you saw on the hiking course.
Varieties of events are carried out in the visitors' center. Those events will be arranged by season, but any event can entertain visitors. Some events require participation fee, so please contact the visitors' center in advance.
*Guide walk - Walk around the Yumoto in the morning and the evening. Each time takes you about 1 hour to finish. Guides explain plant, animal, lake and mountain.
*Straw sandals making (300 yen) - Trial for handmade straw sandals
*Deer watching - Observe the wild Nihonjika (Sika deer) with strolling in the forest
*Clean hiking - Hiking with picking up trashes
*Trout watching - Watching the homing of trout at the river, which flows into the Lake Chuzenji
*Animal tracking - Tracking animal footprints of wearing snow shoe
