Construction of the Osborne Dam on the Ozdi River started in 1991 and completed in 1995. Located approximately 34 km (21 mi) northwest of Mutare city, in Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe, it has created one of the largest man made lakes (reservoirs) in the country. With the surface area reaching about 26 km² (10 mi²), the reservoir has a total water storage capacity of 400 million m³ (14 billion ft³).
