The von der Linde House was being built in 1626 in a Dutch Renaissance style. The house became a trend setter in the city with walls where the bricks lay bare etc. One of the most well known comments regarding the house is that of the French Ambasador to Sweden, Charles Ogier. He said that this house was the brighest star in the whole city.
It took 7 years to build the house by Erik Larsson who was raised to nobility during the building period and took the name "von der Linde", which also became the name of the house. A few years after its completion, in 1636 the house was sold to Gabriel Gustafsson Oxenstierna who very quickly passed it on to Queen Kristina i n1646. She donated it to ther brother Gustaf Gustafsson av Vasaborg who owned it until his death in 1653.
