abandoned / shut down, railway bridge
This is the bridge that carried passenger (and sometimes through freight) trains to/from the CNJ's Jersey City/Scranton mainline to their Allentown passenger terminal, which they co-owned with the Reading Company. From there trains could either follow the CRNJ back to the mainline, or make a connection to the Reading or Lehigh Valley Railroad System. Conrail terminated service on the line in the mid-70's because it was deemed not needed for freight service, and passenger service had already stopped about a decade before. Much of the ROW from here to the former station is now the route of the American Parkway
