Iceland / Sudurland / Kirkjubaejarklaustur /

Laki is a volcano on the island of Iceland. On 8 June 1783 the volcano erupted, spewing basalt lava and ash. The ash and sulfur dioxide changed the weather, killing about 25- 33% of the population of Iceland alone. The eruption continued until 7 February 1784.
