Originally known as the Anderston Industrial Zone, the complex was built in 1965-67 by Glasgow Corporation in an attempt to maintain the area’s industry and provide employment to those who managed to survive the post-Bruce Report slum clearance.
In the 1990s, it was sold to a private developer who refurbished and rechristened it as “Glasgow Skypark” – and it has now largely fulfilled its original promise. Currently there are six Skypark buildings open (numbered Skypark 1, Skypark 2..etc), with a further three earmarked to join the site through the takeover of adjacent buildings.
