The Pennsauken Mart was a quirky "public market" style shopping center that was half halfway between an urban "stall" market and a rural flea market. The large barn-like structure contained a cave-like labyrinth of isles and vendor stalls that sold anything and everything. It was a real throwback to the era before big box stores and homogenous large retail vending. The Mart was closed in 2006 and demolished in 2008 to make way for a new comprehensive development with condos and shoppes. For anyone who knew the old Mart and its secrets nothing will ever be able to replace it.

  • I loved the Pennsauken mart. I especially loved the Italian market (great hoagies), the pretzel place, and the trading post which sold anything and everything in electronics.
