  RIVERS CHANNEL Many of the world’s largest and longest rivers flow through India. Rivers are India’s lifeline and enjoy a special place in prayers and its traditional practices. Many forms of aquatic flora and fauna are sustained by rivers. However, its sheer utility is leading to its own downfall. Rivers are increasingly being linked to several social, environmental, and political issues. Some of them include impact of river dams, pollution, sharing and linking of rivers. Whatever the issue, rivers always find a ready space in the media and in Parliament. What is the future of our rivers?
