Castle Vale Nature Conservation Area is located in the south-easterly corner of the Castle Vale estate in North Birmingham.

It was founded in 1991/2 by a local resident and now the chairperson of the Castle Vale Nature Conservation Group which meets at The Fort Centre. The area was developed by the Parks Department at Birmingham City Council as part of the wider Project Wagtail scheme for Castle Vale during its regeneration.

The conservation area, at present, covers an area of about 5.4 acres and is made up of a variety of habitats, bordered by 2 disused paddocks, which have developed into open mixed grassland and sanctuary for over 400 Redwings & Fieldfares most winters.
