Cameron Memorial Fountain (Glasgow)

 drinking fountain  Add category

Sometimes known as the Charing Cross Fountain, this was an old (now inoperative) drinking fountain, although has now become a local legend as Glasgow's own miniature "Leaning Tower of Pisa". It is also the reason why so many buildings and businesses in the immediate vicinity have the word "Fountain" in their name!

It is an urban myth that the fountain began to subside because of the construction of the M8 motorway underpass in the 1960s, in fact the lean is evident on photos taken as far back as the 1940s.
