Popularly known as the "Charing Cross Tower" - it is the lead building of the Elmbank Gardens complex. Originally it housed the Y-ARD (Yarrow - Admiralty Research Group) which it did until 1992, before its takeover by GEC-Marconi, later British Aerospace. In 1994 it was converted into a hotel.
Has passed through several tenures of ownership and brands - these days it is a Britannia Inn after many years of being a Premier Inn
