Created in 1991, the Instituto Cervantes is a young organisation that has developed very quickly, an official, non-profit making organisation that is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It's aim is to promote the teaching and culture of Spain and Latin America and to help in the development of cultural interchanges around the world. With this aim, the Instituto Cervantes participates, along with other institutions, in international programmes in Europe and the rest of the world.
