The Mercat de la Concepció in Barcelona is part of a long list of the oldest markets in the city. It is situated in the heart of the Eixample district and opened its doors for the first time in 1888. It takes its name from the nearby church which is called the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The magnificent structure was designed by the famous Barcelonian architect Antoni Tria i Roviras, who also designed another famous market in Barcelona called Sant Antoni.
