The Holy Monastery of Panagia in Goumenissa was the largest religious center of the region in the period of Ottoman rule (1430-1912). Believed to be Catholic monastery, the 14th century was given to the Monastery of Mount Athos. The present church was built in 1802. It has been declared a protected monument and have been made in recent years significant work to restore. The icon, Peonian pride of the capital, by the scientists are the work of the 13th or 14th century.
