Germany / Baden-Wurttemberg / Heidenheim /
castle, museum, interesting place, listed building / architectural heritage

This beautifully maintained and restored castle looks out over it's beloved Heidenheim, as it has done for hundreds of years. All HDH's (Heidenheimers) are born and raised with the castle in their hearts, with it's wishing-well, dungeons, canon, museum with original artifacts, and views over the valley that will remain with all who look out from the tower and numerous vantage points around the castle. Heidenheim is steeped in history, stretching back to the Romans, so put it on your "MUST SEE" list.

  • I played here when I was a little boy. I lived below the Castle in Degenhardstrasse and could see it when I looked out of our attic window. The area is steeped in history dating from the Stone Age - you can see flints and other artifacts from this era in the Schloss Museum. The Museum also houses many old carriages and decorated sleds which are very interesting to look at as well as a huge collection of insects, beetles and butterflies. Back in 100AD the Roman Army built a fortress here and you can visit the ruins of a Roman Bath in Heidenheim. The view from the castle wall is fantastic so come and see this magic place for yourself - you won't be disappointed.
  • Heideneheim remains in the core of our souls, even when we live in Melbourne, Australia. This is due in no small part to our beloved Manfred and Margaret Ringleben, Doris, Heidi, Albert, Rosle, Rolf, Lars, Nici (and family), Gerhard(and family), Ernst, Emil, Lia, and even Berte and family and all others from the past and present that have woven there magic into every corner of the stadt.
