A sacred spring or pool sanctuary established by the Hittite king Tudhaliya IV in the 13th century BC. An inscription from the monument names the sanctuary the "Divine Road of the Earth of Arimmatta," Arimmatta presumably being the name of the Bronze Age town at the mound to the southwest.
