Isolated about 40 miles southeast of Mountainair, NM, is the little town of Claunch located in the wide-open prairies of Socorro County. Pinto Beans were once the cash crop. The Claunch Womens' Club has been a favorite place for the industrious women of the area to gather and quilt together. The town still has it's post office.
