This is the Club holding a great tradition of Sodepur. It is a club(with lots of old-linkage)of heritage. It has a Park, Garden, own Ground, Librery, Gym and a primary school.
"CLUB OF MEMORIES & MOMENTOES"
Time transposes many a memory lane ! Today a microscopic few residents of Sodepur(24parganas-N) might live to tell the stories of how this Club of so-many cherished dreams took its root in early 50s. Leaving behind their origin in erstwhile East Bengal, quite a number of them relocated at Sodepur with the same fraternal fervour to be reunited in their enduring ethics. Some of them used to meet at a place during their tired evenings to relive the nostalgia of bygone pains and pleasures ! And that was the place from where todays Sodepur Club started its long journey. This club then adored many a footprints of Freedom Fighters and Nationalist leaders who are no more in this world today. This reviewer is from one of the family clan of those NOBLE SOULS who simply forgot themselves for the CAUSE OF FREEDOM. With my head & soul bowed down to their eternal being, I would like to name a few of them on the imprints of memory. Late Swarnamayee Sarkar, Chandra Kishore Sarkar, Rajlakshmi Dev, Mohendra Kumar Dev, Santi Dutta, Suniti Dutta and many others. In the archives of Sodepur Club, one might even find today, the yellowed pages of decayed old News Papers like Jugantar", Basumati", The Statesman" & Ananda Bazar Patrika" etc. to stand the testimony of their sacrifice. Some of the members of this club were with Mahatma Gandhi when he visited Sodepur. The Club has withstood many geo-political changes of time and I wish it carries on with its legacy. - Manick Dev.
