این روستا در قلب شهرستان عباس آباد با فاصله ۲ کیلومتری از دریا و۳ کیلومتری مرکز شهر واقع شده وموقعیت جغرافیایی شهرستان ازشمال به دریای خزر، از جنوب به کلاردشت، از غرب به شهر نشتارود و از شرق به شهر سلمانشهر(متل قوی سابق) متصل می‌گردد. عباس آباد با داشتن مناظر سرسبز، سواحل زیبای دریای خزر و دامنه‌های سرسبز کوه هرسالاله پذیرای ده ها هزار توریست ازسراسر کشور و جهان می‌باشد.این شهر دارای روستاهای زیادی می‌باشد. (مشهدی سرا، سیدمحله، دراسرا ، کاظم کلا،پلنگ کلا-لنگا، ماشال آباد،پرچ ور،هردوآبرود، محمدحسین آباد،امرجکلا، شل محله، شهیدمحله، پسنده علیا و سفلی و...) عباس آباد در 28 کیلومتری غرب چالوس و بفاصله 24 کیلومتر از تنکابن در مسیر راه چالوس رامسر واقع شده است. فاصله شهر با مرکز استان ساری 200 کیلومتر وبا تهران ( پایتخت )250 کیلومتر میباشد. شغل اصلی مردمان این منطقه کشاورزی و باغداری بود و به مرور زمان با ترویج شهرک نشینی و توسعه ی آن از سوی مهاجرین و توریست ها اراضی بیشماری از مزارع برنج و باغات مرکبات از بین رفت و اندک مزارع برنجکاری و باغات مرکبات در حومه شهر و در روستاهای تابعه باقی مانده است و در حال حاضر زندکی شهر نشینی پر رنگتر از زندگی کشاورزی در منطقه می باشد. کشت برنج در فصل بهار آغاز شده و تا اواسط تابستان برداشت می‌شود. کیوی،پرتغال،نارنگی از مهم‌ترین محصولات باغداری این شهر می‌باشد.همچنین پرورش گل و گیاه در این شهر رونق بسیاری دارد. گویش مردم این شهر طبری متعادل می‌باشد ( و به گویش ساروی بسیار نزدیکتر است ). درایام مهم سال همانند عید نوروز و مراسم عزاداری و جشنها نیز دارای آئین خاص خود می‌باشند. باگسترش روزافزون شهرک سازی مناظر سرسبز این شهر درخطرنابودی قرار گرفته ‌است.این فرآیند به قدری شدت یافته که اکثرمردم اقدام به فروش زمینهای کشاورزی خود نموده‌اند. ازاماکن مذَهبی این شهر می‌توان به بقعه سیدکیا ابولحسن واقع درمزارشهدای مشهدیسرا اشاره کرد. جاده ی عباس آباد به کلاردشت یکی از زیباترین مناظر جنگلی کشور را دارد که هر بیننده ایی را به تحسین وامی دارد. عباس آباد در سال 1388 به عنوان یکی از شهرستان های استان مازندران اعلام شد که شامل شهرهای سلمانشهر و کلارآباد می شود و مرکزیت شهرستان در شهر عباس آباد می باشد.
