The main building in the front was constructed in 1966 as the Kuwait-Sheraton, the first Western luxury hotel in the city, . The building behind it on the left was added as a new wing in 1971. The wing on the right was added in 1979. The two older wings of the hotel were burned out in the Iraq War in 1990 and only the 1979 wing remained open as the older wings were restored. The 1965 and 1971 wings were renovated in 2021 and converted to The St Regis, while the 1979 wing remained the Sheraton Kuwait.
