La Higuera. A tiny settlement high in the Andes in the district of Santa Cruz. In the school of this village Ernesto Guevara de la Serna - famously know as Ché - was shot to death by the Bolivian army on October 9th 1967.
Che Guevara was an Argentine-born Marxist revolutionary and Cuban guerrilla leader. Guevara was a member of Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement, which seized power in Cuba in 1959. After the revolution Guevara became second only to Fidel Castro in the new government of Cuba.
