High Force

United Kingdom / England / Stanhope /
 waterfall, tourist attraction

One of three major waterfalls on the Tees where the river crosses the Whin Sill, a Permian hypabyssal quartz-dolerite intrusion, intruded in the Carboniferous country rocks. The dolerite is very tough and while prone to chemical weathering is comparatively resistant to the rivers erosion.

Wrong:-High Force is a waterfall on the River Tees, near Middleton-in-Teesdale, Tees Valley, England. Despite popular belief, it is not, at 20 metres (70 feet), the highest waterfall in England: Cautley Spout, in Cumbria's Howgill Fells, is almost 180 metres (600 feet) high; and Hardraw Force, in North Yorkshire, has an unbroken drop of 30 metres (100 feet). this source is from:-en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Force But have lived around the River Tees for 37yrs, so knew this anyway.
